What Customers Say About E-Book 8PORT 10/100MP PALM-SIZE SWITCH ( EZ800-S ):

sturdy, quiet, and cheap, this thing can't be beat. At the moment it's serving as the main switch for all the systems in my house including several laptops and desktops, a home theater PC, and other AV appliances. I've used it as a desktop switch (it is completely silent), and as a temporary link to move data amongst a small group of systems when no other network was available. It doesn't have any of the fancier bells and whistles you'd want in an enterprise environment, but for a home environment where all you need is a basic unmanaged switch that is reliable,. I first picked up this switch in 2004 mostly because it was a good deal at the time, even though I didn't have any immediate uses for it. Since then I've used it sporadically in different houses and apartments. I still get 100 mb throughput and it hasn't had a single hiccup in all the years I've had it.
The cheap price is the good side of the story. I bought two of these switches, one for a client and one for myself. Although the switch does the job both of the ones I bought are producing a very annoying wistling noise, which is not a good match for a home network, unless you can stick it somewhere far away from your workspace, so the noise doesn't bother you.
